Wrtchd Thngs by Chmcl Str8jckt

Wrtchd Thngs is the sophomore release and August 16, 2019 album by northern New Jersey band Chmcl Str8jckt which is industrial metal with a vintage flavor released by Cleopatra Record label.  This awesome band consisting of Kevin Snell on keyboards, programming, and vocals, Mike Cairoli on guitars and bass, Ian Omega on percussion and Scott “Frosty Luckman on keyboards and backing vocals.  This hard-driving old school industrial rock album features such tracks as Ode To Peckinpah, Baphomet, Love, Black Vulture and much more with great guitar work and amazing vocals.  This album was well written, produced, recorded and performed. David Gilmour by David Gilmour

David Gilmour is the debut solo studio album by Pink Floyd guitarist and co-lead vocalist David Gilmour released May 28, 1978, on the Harvest/Columbia Records label.  This album consists mostly of blues, guitar-oriented rock songs except for the piano-dominated ballad So Far Away.  This album features such tracks as There’s No Way Out of Here, Short And Sweet and more.  In addition to David Gilmour on lead vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, and keyboards, he is joined by Rick Wills on bass, Willie Wilson on drums, Mick Weaver on piano and Carlena Williams, Debbie Doss, and Shirley Roden on backing vocals.  This album was well-performed, recorded, produced and written and is a great addition to one’s Pink Floyd collection.  This album is still available everywhere where Vinyl, CD and digital downloads are sold.  To learn more about this amazing artist and his music, go to his website http://www.davidgilmour.com

The Best Of Kansas by Kansas

The Best of Kansas is the first compilation album from the American progressive rock band Kansas released July 31, 1984, on the CBS/Epic Records label.  The lineup on this album is Phil Ehart on drums, John Elefante on keyboards and vocals, Dave Hope on bass, Kerry Livgren on guitars and keyboards, Robbie Steinhardt on violin and vocals, Steve Walsh on keyboards and vocals and Rich Williams on guitar.  This compilation features all the hits we have grown to love such as Carry On Wayward Son, Dust In The Wind, Point Of No Return, Play The Game Tonight and so much more.  It also featured one new track, Perfect Lover, written by then-lead vocalist John Elefante and his brother Dino Elefante. The versions of Carry On Wayward Son and The Wall on the 1984 release of The Best of Kansas are specially remixed versions unique to the first version of this collection. Heavy Blues by Bachman

For my 1330^th review, I am getting the opportunity to review the album Heavy Blues, from The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive founder Randy Bachman – and his power blues-rock trio Bachman released April 14, 2015, on the Linus Records label.  In addition to bassist Anna Ruddick and drummer Dale Anne Brendan, Randy Bachman enlisted a group of guest guitarists for the tracks: along with his own signature playing, ‘Heavy Blues’ features solos from Neil Young, Joe Bonamassa, Peter Frampton and Robert Randolph, as well as a contribution from the late Jeff Healey, who passed away in 2008 at the age of 41.  This heavy blues rock album features such great tracks as Bad Child, Little Girl Lost, Confessin’ To The Devil, the title track Heavy Blues and much more.  This amazing album was well written, recorded, produced and performed.  You can grab your own copy of this album from Amazon, Discogs, and other outlets where Vinyl, CDs and digital downloads are sold.  To learn more about Randy and his work, go to his website https://www.randybachman.com

 

Progress by Steve Bonino

Progress is the July 1, 2016 album by Steve Bonino and the fifth review I have done for this artist. This album has been described as about as eclectic as any album he has ever been involved with. On Firm Ground/Tierra Firme by Jane Bunnett and Maqueque

For all of you jazz fans out there, Jane Bunnett and Maqueque have a new offering called On Firm Ground/Tierra Firme which will be released September 6, 2019, via Linus Entertainment/True North Records. Vertilizar by Vertilizar

Vertilizar is the self-titled EP by post-grunge/alternative metal band from Austria Vertilizar released September 21, 2018.  I first heard this band on my friend’s radio show No Nonsense With Nipnyce and I became an instant fan.  This great band consists of Oliver Zinhobl on vocals and rhythm guitar, Florian Wacha on lead guitar, Simon Hinterberger on bass, and Thomas Buchinger on drums.  I loved this EP from start to finish with heavy guitar riffs, powerful vocals, thumping bass lines and driving drum beats on the tracks Pathetic, Bleeding, The Truth, Outlaw, Time and The End Is Near.  This great album was well written, performed, recorded and produced and this is a band that I want to hear a whole lot more from and I would put them up in the same class as Staind, Seether, and Breaking Benjamin.  I hope they come to the United States soon to tour. Get Here Quick by The Texas Horns

Get Here Quick is the debut release by The Texas Horns,  one of the finest horn sections working in roots music today. Comprised of Mark ‘Kaz’ Kazanoff on tenor saxophone, John Mills on baritone saxophone, and Al Gomez on trumpet with the album released May 24, 2019, on the  Severn Records label.  They are joined by an all-star band of special guests that includes Curtis Salgado, John Nemeth, Gary Nicholson, Guy Forsyth, Carolyn Wonderland, Ronnie Earl, Anson Funderburgh, Johnny Moeller, Denny Freeman, Derek O’Brien, and Jonn Del Toro Richardson.  This album is a great mixture of roots, blues, americana and soul music sounds with amazing vocal and instrumental tunes such as I’m Doing Alright At Least For Tonight, Better Get Here Quick, Feelin’ No Pain, Sundown Talking, Guitar Town and much more.  This album was well written, recorded, performed and produced and is available in Vinyl, CD, and digital download format from Amazon, Discogs, Itunes, and many music outlets

California by DVR

California is my third review and September 16, 2016 concept album by DVR, a studio project by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Olav Christensen. California features ten tracks, which are all inspired and titled appropriately by the namesake state. The album is a journey of imprinted memories, collected by Christensen when he lived in Santa Monica almost a decade ago. California is an eclectic compendium of rhythm and art, carried on tidal waves of synth and soul.  Originally from Denmark, Olav is now based in Brooklyn, NY, and writes, records, produces and masters all his music. This album features such tracks as Groveland, Sunset To The Beach, Glitz, Goodbye Santa Monica and so much more.  I have become a big fan of this artist after the first two reviews I have done for him and was impressed with his songwriting abilities as well as this performance and how it was recorded and produced.  You can find this release as a digital download from Bandcamp as well as his other albums by going to his Bandcamp page https://dvrmusic.bandcamp.com

 

Strange Path by Leeroy Stagger
