Moving Forward In Reverse: Greatest Hits by Saliva

Moving Forward in Reverse: Greatest Hits is  2010 greatest hits compilation album by the nu-metal/grunge rock band Saliva released March 23, 2010, on the Island Records label.  The line up on this album features Josey Scott on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Wayne Swinny on lead and rhythm guitars, Jonathan Montova on rhythm guitar, Paul Crosby on drums and Dave Novotny on bass.  Along with the group’s most successful singles such as Click Click Boom, Rest In Pieces, Superstar, Razor’s Edge, and much more, the album also features one new song, Time To Shine, which was named the official theme song to WWE’s 2010 edition of Extreme Rules.  I had the opportunity to see the new lineup of this band recently and they performed many of the songs off this album and still have that great sound.  This compilation was well written, recorded, performed and produced.  I highly recommend this album for your rock library.  You can purchase this album in CD and digital download format from Amazon, Itunes, Discogs, and other outlets plus you can follow this band and find out where they will be playing near you at their website http://saliva.com/

Mean Streak by Y&T

Mean Streak is the fifth studio album by American hard rock/heavy metal band Y&T, released in 1983 through A&M Records.  The lineup on this album is Dave Meniketti on lead guitar and lead vocals, Joey Alves on rhythm guitar, Phil Kennemore on bass, and Leonard Haze on drums.  This release spawned the singles Midnight In Tokyo, Sentimental Fool, and the title track Mean Streak.  Other notable tracks are Hang Em High, Breaking Away, Lonely Side Of Town and much more.  I was impressed with how well this album was written, recorded and performed with amazing vocals, and solid guitar riffs.  This album is available from Amazon, Itunes and other outlets where Vinyl, CD’s and digital downloads are sold.  You can find more about this band and where they are touring on their website https://www.yandtrocks.com/

Epilogue by A Light Within

For my 1160th music review, I wish to thank the Kansas City, Missouri based progressive rock band A Light Within for the opportunity to listen to their February 2, 2018, EP Epilogue.  This great band consists of Kyle Brandt on vocals and keyboards, Jeff Irvine and Josh Bennett on guitars, Andy Schiller on bass, and Nick Sloan on drums. This four track EP contains the tracks Page #9 (Shells), Page #54 (Chemical Drive), Page #27 (Surrounded by Astronauts), and Page #35 (An Educated Gentleman).  In addition to the great vocals and powerful instrumentation, this album was well written, recorded and produced.  This is a great album from start to finish and is available from Amazon, CD Baby and other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.  To learn more about this band, go to their page https://alightwithin.bandcamp.com

Ease The Pain by Palisades

Ease The Pain is the fourth studio album by Palisades, an American post-hardcore band from Iselin, New Jersey released December 28, 2018, on the Rise Records label.  This band features Louis “Lou” Miceli Jr on lead vocals, Xavier Adames on lead guitar, Matthew Marshall on rhythm guitar, Brandon Elgar on bass and Aaron Rosa on drums plus Christian “Graves” Muchozuki (studio DJ/producer). This ten track album features great guitar work and superb vocals on such tracks as Vendetta, the title track Erase The Pain, War, Ways to Disappear, Ghosts and much more.  This release was well performed, written, recorded and produced.  After hearing their last album Palisades, I was looking forward to hearing this one as well as seeing this band performing tracks from this album when they open for From Ashes To New on April 10, 2019, at Capone’s in Johnson City and getting the honor of meeting this band in person and get this album and their last one signed by the band.  You can get your copy of this album on Vinyl, CD and digital download from Amazon, Itunes, and many other outlets.   Check out their tour schedule and more at http://wearepalisades.com

Breaking Point by Afterlife

Passages by Brave

Passages is my third review for the Washington DC area progressive rock /metal band called Brave released May 26, 2004.  The lineup for this great EP consists of Ben Kelly on bass, Matt Kozar and Scott Loose on guitars, Suvo Sur on violin and keyboards, Trevor Schrotz on drums and his wife Michelle Schrotz on vocals and keyboards.  This five track EP features the tracks Words, Broken, Don’t Go Away, the title track Passages, and Trapped Inside.  I was quite impressed with the great guitar work, amazing bass, string, and keyboard lines and powerful vocals as well as being well written, performed and recorded. Long Ago by Jim And Lynna Woolsey

Panoptical by Days Of Jupiter

The Hard Way by Dale Ann Bradley
