The Rhythm Of Love And Dysfunction by The Livesays

Billy Livesay, best known for his work with E Street Band legend Clarence Clemons as his Guitarist & Vocalist, is releasing a new album with his group The Livesays called The Rhythm Of Love And Dysfunction on Sept 20th, 2020.  This amazing album was recorded in 2018 and was set to be released early in 2019. Tragically, on November 2nd, 2018, the band experienced unimaginable sorrow when their drummer, Eddie Zyne, passed away from a heart attack.  With the replacement drummer Howard Goldberg, they were able to finish the album.  This thirteen track album features Billy Livesay on guitar and lead vocals, Jorge Laplume on bass and vocals, Victor “Cuqui” Berrios on organ and vocals, Tim Murphy on piano and vocals and Howard Goldberg on drums on such tracks as When I Dream which has a Bruce Springsteen sound, a great cover of Crosby Stills Nash and Young classic Woodstock, an amazing cover of Don Henley’s hit Heart Of The Matter, Book Of Rules, Rhythm Of Love and so much more.  I enjoyed this album from start to finish with great vocals and amazing rhythm and blues sound as well as brilliant songwriting and a superb recording.  I hope I will get the opportunity to hear this band’s earlier work in order to see the growth of them as performers and as songwriters.  To learn more about this band, their music, and their tour schedule when this pandemic is over, go to their official website

Voices by The Empty Pockets

Back in August of 2017, we saw an ad for a CD free for the cost of postage, so I ordered the CD Ten Cent Tour by the band The Empty Pockets.  I was impressed with the sound of it that I decided to write a review on the album.  Moving forward over two and a half years later, I received package in the mail today with two CDs, a nice t-shirt and the signed vinyl copy of the album Voices with a nice note that said “Thanks for such a nice review of our album Ten Cent Tour, It means a lot to us” signed The Empty Pockets.  I also received a message from Josh Solomon thanking me for the 2017 review and that he and Erika Brett first saw the review a few days ago.  I am glad they finally got the chance to read and like the review.  Voices is the September 1, 2017 album by the Empty Pockets which features Josh Solomon, Erika Brett, Nate Bellon, and Danny Rosenthal on the MT Pockets Records label which features vocals of energetic pop-leaning country Americana, with careful and bright vocal harmonies on such songs on this ten-track album such as Voices In My Head, I Am Strong, The Bubble, Need To Know and so much more.  I was quite moved by their performance, their songwriting skills, and how this album was recorded.  If you have not had the chance to hear this amazing band yet, please give them a listen, you will not regret it.  This great album is available as a digital download from Amazon, Itunes, and all other music retailers.  It is also available on autographed Vinyl from  plus you will be able to learn more about this amazing band, their other music releases and their current tour schedule by going to their official website

5 Years Of Modern Funk by Various Artists

5 Years of Modern Funk is a collection of some amazing artists that have performed since the 2014 launch of Austin Boogie Crew Records that is scheduled to be released on March 28, 2020.  This 21 track album is on a CD that looks like a 45 rpm record took me back to the days when I used to DJ in many clubs.  This is a CD that I enjoyed from start to finish with such tracks as Goodies by Diamond Ortiz, Reesis by Solar Shield, Finest Girl (Featuring Sally Green) by Rojai, Love Don’t Pay The Bills (Featuring E. Live) by Trailer Limon, Do It 4U by Starship Connection, Enjoyable Sunburn by XL Middleton, Feel Right 2Nite by Computa Games and a whole lot more.  I was quite moved by the performances on this album, so much I wish I had this one when I was working as a Disc Jockey in many clubs, and I know the audience would get excited with the material on this album. This release was well compiled and recorded.  I highly recommend this album that enjoys the old Disco, Funk, and R&B sound.
