Trust Me, You’ll Like It by Howie Newman

It is not very often I am sent a Comedy CD to review, but recently I was sent a Comedy CD called Trust Me, You’ll Like It by Howie Newman.  This collection of humorous songs was released November 30, 2006, on the Major League Records label.  The music on this album is a mixture of country, jazz, and little Texas swing.  This thirteen track release features such songs as Everybody’s Talkin’ On The Phone, Way Past My Bedtime, Please Buy My Record, Weekend Warrior, Pushin’ 30 and much more.  It was well written, recorded and produced. They Are We by Stimuli

For my 872^nd review, I present the upcoming album They Are We by Oakland, California based rock band Stimuli consisting of Jimmy Tomahawk on guitars and vocals, Tai Hake on bass and Cole Andrew on drums.  This eleven song debut album which features heavy guitar and bass riffs and powerful drumming on such tracks as the title song They Are We, +X-, Ripple, Pushing The Stone and much more.   I was impressed with how well this album was written, recorded, produced and performed.  I feel this album is going to do well on the rock charts.  The release date will be August 18^th where CDs and digital downloads are sold.  Will release more information as it becomes available.

Sister Sadie II by Sister Sadie

For my 871^st review, I am proud to present the sophomore album by Nashville, Tennessee based bluegrass group Sister Sadie appropriately named Sister Sadie II due to be released August 24, 2018, on the Pinecastle Records label.  This five-piece band consists of Dale Ann Bradley on guitar and vocals, Tina Adair on mandolin and vocals, Deanie Richardson on fiddle, Gena Britt on Banjo and vocals and Beth Lawrence on acoustic bass. This twelve track album features both foot-stomping songs and easy listening songs as Losing You Blues (this album’s debut single), No Smokey Mountain, Raliegh’s Ride, Morning Sky, I Washed My Face In Mountain Dew and much more.  I was impressed with the instrumentation, vocals, and harmonies as well as how it was recorded, written and produced.  This is a great addition to one’s bluegrass music library.  This album will be available for purchase on August 24^th from Amazon, Pinecastle Records and other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

Vegir Featuring Tony Levin by Vantomme

Vegir Featuring Tony Levin is a project of Dominique Vantomme, keyboardist, composer, bandleader and producer, equally as well known for his work with many European pop and rock acts and was joined by two musicians from the MoonJune circuit: the legendary Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Stick Men) on bass guitar and Chapman stick, and Michel Delville (The Wrong Object; douBt; Machine Mass) on guitar, plus Dominique’s ultra-talented Belgian colleague Maxime Lenssens on drums.  This album was released February 18, 2018, on the Moonjune Records label is a mixture of progressive rock and jazz fusion features such tracks as Sizzurp, Playing Chess With Barney Rubble, Emmetropia and much more.  This eight-track project was well written (all tracks by Dominque Vantomme), recorded, produced and performed.  This album is available from Amazon, CD Baby, and all other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

Circulive :: Majestik by Circuline

Circulive: Majestik is a Live CD / Blu-Ray by Circuline, captured live at the 13th International Rites of Spring Festival in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania which was released May 18, 2018, on the Inner Nova Music label.  The lineup on this album is Andrew Colyer on keyboards and vocals, Darin Brannon on drums, Natalie Brown on lead vocals, William “Billy” Spillane on vocals and rhythm guitar and Baledo on guitar.  It also features guest artists Harold Skeete on bass and Joe Deninzon on electric violin.  I enjoyed watching this concert which features such great tracks as Who I Am, Forbidden Planet, One Wish, Stay and much more with great instrumentation, vocals, and harmonies.  This collection was well written, filmed, recorded, performed and produced and can be purchased from Amazon, CD Baby,  and other outlets where CD’s DVDs. and Blu Ray is sold.

True Grass Again by Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road

For my 868^th review, I am proud to announce the upcoming album by Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road called True Grass Again to be released August 10, 2018, on the Pinecastle Records label.  This eleven track album all staying true to the band’s one-of-a-kind style, with a traditional touch, shows bluegrass at it’s best with such songs as True Grass, I Don’t Want To Lose You, Another Soldier, Pickin’ Rock Out Of The Bluegrass and much more.  This album has great instrumentation, vocals, and harmonies and I was very impressed with how well this album was recorded, written, performed and produced.  This is definitely a must-have for your bluegrass library and I am looking forward to hearing more from this band.  This album is available on CD and digital download from carolinaroadband.com, Amazon, Pinecastle Records and other outlets.

 

Hail To The King by Avenged Sevenfold

Hail To The King is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold released August 31, 2013, on the Warner Brothers Records label.  Hail To The King is the first and only Avenged Sevenfold album to feature Arin Ilejay on drums, prior to his departure in July 2015 and spawned three singles the title track Hail To The King, Shepherd Of Fire (was revealed to be the theme song of the Call of Duty: Black Ops II  video game), and This Means War.   This album would sound more blues rock-influenced and more like classic rock and classic metal in the vein of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin with such tracks as Crimson Day, Doing Time, Coming Home and much more.  This great release was well written, recorded, performed and produced and I am looking forward to seeing this band in September for the Louder Than Life Music Festival.  I highly recommend this album to your rock library and is available on Vinyl, CD, and digital download format.

Live With David Cross by Dialeto

Dialeto is an Ar-Rock/Progressive Rock band from Sao Paulo, Brazil currently composed by Nelson Coelho on guitar, Fred Barley on Drums and Gabriel Costa on bass.  Live With David Cross is the new live album with the guest participation of violinist Davis Cross (Ex-King Crimson) which was recorded in 2017 on their second of a pair of concerts which was held to promote the band’ then-new album Bartok in Rock.   This great album was released on 4 June 2018 on the Moonjune Records label and this thirteen track album consists of tracks such as Roumanian Folk Dances, Mikrokosmos, Exiles, Tonk, Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, and so much more.  I was very impressed with how well this great album was written, recorded, produced and performed.  You can purchase this album from Amazon, Itunes, and many other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

Plays Hendrix by Machine Mass

For my 864^th review, I present the third album by experimental jazz-rock band Machine Mass with Plays Hendrix a July 21, 2017 release on the Moonjune Records label.  Machine Mass consists of Guitarist Michel Delville who also adds the electronics and samples, drummer Tony Bianco, and Antoine Guenet, whose work on the piano, keyboards, and synthesizer makes this trio complete.  This is the first time I have heard the music of guitar great Jimi Hendrix taken into a new and exciting sound several different kinds of jazz and rock, simultaneously with classic tracks as Purple Haze, Little Wing, Fire, Voodoo Chile, The Wind Cries Mary and so much more.  This release was well arranged, recorded, produced, and performed.  This a great addition to one’s jazz library and can be purchased from Amazon, Itunes, and other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.
