Remains by Bywater Call

Southern Dissonance by Kevin The Persian

It is not too often that I get an vinyl to review but yesterday was an exception.  I received the album Southern Dissonance, the debut album by New Orleans artist Kevin The Persian, released on January 19, 2022 which was recorded over several months in 2021 in a tiny room in an old industrial building in New Orleans with no access to the outside world which is a great idea if you want to create something with any outside interference which does happen in a lot of studios.  This nine track album of original material of rock and blues showcases his amazing vocals and musicianship on such tracks as Coping Mechanisms, Persian Delta Blues, his first single Rock is Dead, the title track Southern Dissonance, and so much more.  I enjoyed this album from start to finish with a spectacular performance, brilliant songwriting talent and a superb job of recording and production.  This is an artist I would love to hear more from in the future and if he was ever to perform live in my area, I would definitely go and see him perform live and write a concert review.  I know you will enjoy this album which is available on Vinyl, CD and digital download from Bandcamp, Spotify, Discogs and many other music retailers.

Afterlife by Five Finger Death Punch

AfterLife is the ninth studio album by American heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch, released on August 19, 2022, via the Better Noise Records label. It is the first album since 2007’s The Way of the Fist not to feature longtime lead guitarist Jason Hook, who was replaced by Andy James in 2020.  Current lineup for this amazing band is Zoltan Bathory on rhythm guitar. lead guitar and bass, Ivan Moody on lead vocals amd keyboards,  Chris Kael on bass and backing vocals, Charlie Engen on drums and Andy James on lead guitar and backing vocals/  This twelve track album of new material features the singles IOU, the title track Afterlife, Welcome To the Circus and Times Like These.  In addition to these singles the album features such amazing other tracks as Pick Up Behind You, All I Know, The End and much more.  I enjoyed this album from start to finish with a brilliant performance, as well as the bands excellent songwriting talent plus a superb job of recording and production.  I enjoyed this whole album from start to finish and had the opportunity in the past to see this amazing band perform live in concert with a spectacular light show and a driving performance.  I really appreciate their support of us veterans and hope one day I can get one of my vinyl albums signed by the band.  I highly recommend that you add this album to your rock library which is available on Vinyl, CD and digital download from Amazon, Spotify, and other music retailers as well on their official website https://fivefingerdeathpunch.com/ where you can learn more about the band and where they will be playing near you.

Scream, Holler & Howl by Blue Moon Marquee

Multi-award-winning Canadian roots-blues duo Blue Moon Marquee will release their brand new album Scream, Holler & Howl, scheduled for release on September 8, 2022 which is a mixture of American blues and folk, gypsy jazz, Native American themes, jump blues, swing and more. these century-old traditions.  This duo features A.W. Cardinal on vocals and guitar and Jasmine Colette on vocals and upright bass with guest musicians: Duke Robillard on guitar, Darcy Phillips on piano and hammond organ, Jerry Cook on tenor and baritone Sax, Matt Pease on drums, Paul Pigat on guitar, Bonnie Northgraves on trumpet and Señor Erik on tambourine.  This thirteen track album showcases 11 original songs such as the title track Scream, Holler & Howl, Thick As Thieves, Come On Down, Medicine Man and few others as well as two distinctive takes on songs written by the legendary Lonnie Johnson: Another Night to Cry, and Long Black Train.  I was quite moved by the performance on this album with amazing vocals and musicianship, as well as stellar songwriting talent and a superb recording.   After hearing this release, I would love to hear their earlier work to see their growth as performers and songwriters. Looking Back is the August 5, 2022 Dark Rock album by Winter on the Wintergothic Records label featuring Markus Winter (German author, musician, scriptwriter, singer and composer) on lead, backing and harmony cocals, bass, lead and rhythm guitars, violin, keyboards and synthesizer, Hugo Ribeiro and Carsten Enghardt on drums, Michael Donner on keyboards and synthesizer and Jasmin Stilger, Bianca Stilger, Danny Winter, Tom Jott and Dirkl Hardegen on harmony and backing vocals.  The CD version of this album features sixteen tracks and the vinyl features twelve tracks of the best songs from his back catalogue with such amazing sons as We Believe In Rock, Heartbreak Road, On The Run, Take It Slow, I Stand Alone, A Love Worth Dying For and so much more.   This brilliant album showcases a stellar performance with amazing vocals and musicianship, a awesome job of songwriting and finally a superb job of recording.  I am very proud to own both the CD version so I can enjoy the bonus tracks and the Vinyl version that I can listen at home on my turntable.  I can definitely say, you need to add this album to your rock library which is available from https://www.winterzeitstudios.de/, Spotify, and many other music retailers.

Rain City Drive by Rain City Drive

RAIN CITY DRIVE  a self-titled effort, is the Florida post-hardcore band’s first album under their current moniker, having previously released four studio albums as SLAVES released on July 15, 2022 via Thriller Records. This great band features Colin Vieira on bass, Weston Richmond on lead and rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Felipe Sanchez on rhythm guitar, Zachary Baker on drums and Matt McAndrew (who was a runner up on season 7 of The Voice on Team Adam) on lead vocals and guitar.  This eleven track album features the single Waiting On You, as well as other brilliant track as Dreams, Nothing Left, Blood Runs Cold, If I Was Right and so much more.   This release showcases an amazing performance, amazing songwriting talent and a stellar recording.  I had the opportunity to see this band live this past weekend in Orlando, Florida and their live performance is as amazing and their recording.  You really need to check out this album that is available everywhere music is sold as well on their official website https://raincitydrive.com/ where you can learn more about this band and where they are playing near you.

Chris Wyles and Kevin Petillo on Drums, Chris Cordoba  and Oli Hannifan on Guitar, Will Muldrew on Bass, Malin-My Nilsson and Amy Langely on strings and Victy Silva on backing vocals.  This twelve track album which is his debut album under his name which features wide-range of genres from global beats to hard blues to fragile balladry to prog-rock monstrosities and beyond with such great songs as Glisten, The Existential Terrier,  I Am Not A Mountain, Aftermath, Somebody’s Love Song and so much more.  This is a brilliantly recorded album with a superb performance and excellent songwriting and is a album I know you will enjoy which is available on Vinyl (which I would love to add to my library), CD, and digital download from many places where music is sold.
