This great album has a sound which is a mixture of Rock, Blues, and Country with such tracks as Bad Bad Billy, Geronimo, Rollin’ Hot, Whiskey Run and much more.  I enjoyed this album as much as I did with their earlier releases and I was impressed with the songwriting on this one as well as how well it was recorded and performed.  Please take a listen to this album on Spotify and if you enjoy it as much as I did, you can pick up this great album from CD Baby, Amazon, Itunes and other outlets where digital downloads are sold.

#World On Fire by Curious Grace & Black Rabbit

If you take Soaring vocals, pulsating guitars, progressive arrangements and chunky, bluesy riffs power their new wave and punk-inspired melodic rock which reminds me of a mixture of classical sound with rock riffs you will get the album #World On Fire by Curious Grace & Black Rabbit released June 29, 2018.   Curious Grace & Black Rabbit features Tom Erangey on bass and vocals, Mary Erangey on electric cello and vocals, Mike Conley on guitar, Bojan Kolevski on keyboards, Heidi O’Toole on vocals and Scott Way on drums.  This is what I call an interesting album with a different sound which is shown with such tracks as Scars And Children, Make It Rain, Fat Cats, World On Fire Part Two, Duffy’s March, and much more.  I was impressed with how well this album was written, performed, recorded and produced.  You can find this album on Amazon, Itunes, and other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

Soulrise by Images Of Eden

For my 938th review, I would like to present an album I heard for the first time on the online radio show WTAU Pea Ridge Nation,  the album Soulrise, the fourth studio album and their first since 2011 by progressive metal band Images Of Eden released on August 17, 2018, on the Pavement Music Records label.  This great band comprises of Gordon Tittsworth on vocals and rhythm guitar, Eric Mulvaine on bass, Steve Dorssom on drums, Dean Harris on Keyboards and Carlos Urquidi Perez on lead guitar.   From the very first track on this album Harvest Day, I knew I had to get my hands on this album and listen to it at my leisure to savor the complete experience of this great recording. Harvest Day had driving drums, wailing guitar and great riffs, awesome harmonies and a mixture of clean and unclean vocals.  Other tracks I totally fell in love with were Let Me Die Young, Shield Me, Moonrise (They say heavy metal bands does the best ballads, well it is true on this one with great piano and guitar work as well and powerful vocals), Twice Upon A Time, the title track Soulrise  and so much more.  Most of the time, you buy an album and there might be three or four awesome tracks and the rest you say It’s ok, but not with this album.  Every song on this twelve track album was awesome and you will want to listen to this complete album over and over again without skipping tracks.  After listening to this album for the second time, I knew that I have to have this album on vinyl when it is released and try to catch this band whenever they are in our area.  I was impressed on how well this album was written, recorded, produced and performed.  I strongly recommend that you go to Spotify and take a listen to this album.  I know you will like it so much that you will want to buy your copy on CD or digital download from Itunes, Amazon and other outlets and purchase the vinyl that is scheduled for release at a later date.  Finally, I want to give Gordon Tittsworth a big thank you for allowing me to review this album.

Teddy Neeley by The Teddy Neeley Five

For my 936th review, I am proud to present an album from 1966 called Teddy Neeley.  This a remastered album by the Teddy Neeley Five featuring Ted Neeley which later came to fame as Jesus in the movie and Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar.  He signed his first record deal in 1965, at age 22, with Capitol Records and this was his debut album.  Before I listened to this album, I discovered that this band was to perform Always Something There To Remind Me on the Smothers Brothers show, but the show never aired due to the Smothers Brothers being fired.  But this great performance is on Youtube showing a young Ted Neeley.  This twelve track album features such songs as Bring The Whole Family, Where You Are, Grand Hotel, Look Here Comes The Sun and much more.  For an album recorded in the 60’s, this was well recorded, written and performed.  I highly recommend this album to your music library and from what I could find out, it is only available from Ted Neeley’s web site.

Metallia by OH

Metallia is the latest album by OH, the alter ego of a female composer who lives in Athens, a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and a sound producer with the unpronounceable name Olivia Hadjiioannou was released on July 28, 2018, in the format of a luxuriously designed digipack-CD with a 16-page booklet. The EP includes 6 new tracks with a total duration of just over 25 minutes.  OH plays guitar (electric and acoustic), bass, drums, violin, piano, and percussion and has great vocals.  I enjoyed this progressive metal album from start to finish and was really impressed with the tracks Red Lion, Resurrection and Triumph and the whole six-track album was well written, performed, recorded and produced.  I am looking forward to hearing her earlier work.  Please take a listen to this amazing album on Spotify and then you will want to purchase your copy from Amazon, Itunes and other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

Workin’ For The Words by Ted Neeley

Workin’ For The Words is the March 11, 2013 album by Ted Neeley who is most famous for playing Jesus Christ in the movie and Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar.  This album features music that sounds fresh and contemporary on one hand and timeless and classic on the other hand.  From the opening notes of It’s A Beautiful Day you can tell this is authentic, soulful, Southern, cutting-edge music. The pace and energy continue to build into Old Mexico, New Mexico, and Big Man Ted Neeley has lost none of his wide range and his raw vocals fill the air with emotion and real magic. Other notable cuts include Santa Muerte and White Buffalo and Crazy Heart which is a beautiful ballad and recorded live.  I am very impressed with how well this album was performed, recorded, produced and written. I am looking forward to listening to the other CD’s that Ted sent me today and I will review them as well.  You can find this great album from Amazon, Itunes, and other outlets where great music is sold.

Extinction by Moon

Extinction is the third studio album by Chicago based band Moon consisting of David Azizinamini on guitar, Chris Schneberger on drums and Chis Shen on bass and released June 8, 2018.  I was impressed with this album from start to finish with echo-laden guitar, post-rock bass, propulsive drumming and haunting, ethereal vocals on such tracks as RevolutionSiberian, Wish List, Free, Hidden End and so much more.  This album was well written, recorded, produced and performed. This band and their great indie rock sound is something I wish to hear more of and get the chance to hear their earlier work.   I noticed that this album is available on vinyl and would love to hear how it sounds on my turntable.  This great album is available on Bandcamp and other outlets where CD’s, Vinyl and digital downloads are sold.
