One Night Only: The Greatest Hits by Elton John

One Night Only – The Greatest Hits is a live double album released by Elton John 13 November  2000 on the Universal/Rocket Record label. The album was recorded on 20 and 21 October 2000 at Madison Square Garden. The title is “one night only” because the recording equipment failed to tape most of the audio from the first night, leaving only the second night to be recorded as an album.  There is not a bad song on this collection with such tracks as Philadelphia Freedom, Bennie And The Jets, Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting), Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me and much more.  If I was going to compile this album I would have added as opening number Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding which appeared on the DVD of the same name.  This album was well performed, recorded and produced.  You will want to add this great album to your Elton John record library.

Automatic For The People by R.E.M.

Automatic for the People is the eighth studio album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on October 5, 1992, by Warner Brothers Records. A 25th-anniversary edition will be released on November 10, 2017, by Craft Recordings and distributed by the Concord Music Group.  This was one of my favorite R.E.M. albums which spawned six singles, Drive, Man On The Moon (which was used in the movie of the same name, the song is a tribute to the comedian and performer Andy Kaufman with numerous references to his career including his Elvis impersonation, wrestling and other thing’s in Andy’s life), The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, Everybody Hurts, Nightswimming, and Find The River.  This is one of the albums I am looking forward to owning on vinyl as this album was well written, recorded and produced.  This album is available on Amazon, Itunes, and everywhere else that CD’s and digital downloads are sold.
