For Stories by Mark Stone And The Dirty Country Band

For Stories is my third review and latest release for Mark Stone And The Dirty Country Band.  This four track EP focuses on good ol’ country rock with hard guitar riffs and powerful beats which such songs as Until Someone Remembers My Name, When Love Goes To War, Faster Than They Fall and Before You’re Gone.  This EP was well written, recorded and performed plus is available for purchase from Itunes, the bands website and everywhere else that CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

True Grass by Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road

True Grass is the new single by Pinecastle recording artists Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road. The song will be featured on the band’s upcoming album dropping later this year and is a mixture of country and bluegrass.  The song also features well-known bluegrass favorites like Junior Sisk and Danny Paisley. Affectionately known as the “Lady of Tradition” in bluegrass, Lorraine has fronted Carolina Road for over 15 years. The band’s distinct sound and old-time flair can be attributed to the bluegrass-rich area of North Carolina from which they hail and borrow their name. As the founding member and bandleader for Carolina Road, Lorraine Jordan’s showmanship and chemistry with the audience make the group one of the most popular bands among bluegrass fans today.  I expect to see this song hit the top ten on the country charts.  This song was well written, performed, recorded and produced.

Next New Heartbreak by Brad Hudson

Next New Heartbreak is the debut album by North Carolina singer and multi-instrumentalist Brad Hudson released November 3, 2017, on the Pinecastle Records label. Brad Hudson has spent years working for the Parton family at Dollywood and has also done a stint at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN.  I was impressed with his voice and his songwriting ability as shown with such tracks as Ramblers Song, the title track Next New Heartbreak, Truckers Blues, Smokey Mountain Strong, and much more as well as Appalachian Memories, a duet with Dolly Parton which she also co-wrote with Brad.  This album is well written (all tracks were written or co-written by Brad Hudson), performed, recorded and produced.  I highly recommend this album to your bluegrass library and can be purchased from Amazon, Itunes, Pinecastle Records and everywhere that CD’s and digital downloads are sold.

Other Desert Cities by Bay Station

Bay Station finds California-based songwriter/musicians Kwame Copeland and Deborah Crooks combining their talents and enlisting the help of several musical compadres to create a diverse form of Americana and rock music in the forthcoming album Other Desert Cities, inspired by the strange, poetic and distinctly American stories of desert denizens with a great country sound as heard in such great tracks as Sleeping Hard Waking Slow, Everybody’s Business, Clean Up (which reminds me so much of the Johnny Cash style), Trickster Moon and much more.  This amazing album was well written, recorded, performed and produced.  This release will be available on April 27, 2017, from Amazon, and places where CD’s and digital downloads are sold

Bold by Alisha Mae

17th Avenue Revival by The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys are back with a brand new Lightning Rods Records project 17th Avenue Revival, produced by Dave Cobb, which will be released on March 16. One of the longest-running groups in country music, The Oak Ridge Boys started life as a gospel quartet before gradually modernizing their style and moving into secular country-pop. Vince Gill, Ashley Monroe, Jamey Johnson, and Brandy Clark all penned tracks on the new album, recorded at Studio A on 17th Avenue in Nashville.  This 32nd studio  album with powerful vocals and harmonies by Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, Joe Bonsall and Richard Sterban shows how strong this quartet still is after 52 years as shown in such tracks as Brand New Star, There Will Be Light, I’d Rather Have Jesus, If I Die and so much more.  This album was well written, recorded, produced and performed. You can find this album on Amazon, Itunes, Bandcamp and everywhere else where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.
