Ashley MacIsaac is a traditionalist with a penchant for experimentation. His ability to cross the boundaries of folk, punk, garage rock, and metal all bound together by his astonishing fiddle-playing, branded him as an eccentric, an upstart and a pioneer. Pride released September 27, 2005, on Linus Entertainment Records is my second review for this Canadian fiddler, singer, and songwriter from Cape Breton Island, my first review being for his Christmas album A Cape Breton Christmas. This is also his first hard-core recording, abandoning the fiddle for guitar and vocals with a heavier feel than his previous work with such tracks on this eleven-track album as Bitch, Revolution, A Man Like You, Nights Wasted Away and much more. This album was not received as well as his earlier work due his audience was not ready for him abandoning the fiddle for this album, but I felt that it still showcases great songwriting, an amazing performance, and a superb recording and is available on CD and digital download format from Amazon, Discogs, and other music outlets.
Mama Let Him Play is the 1977 debut album by Jerry Victor Doucette, a Canadian guitarist, and singer-songwriter known just as Doucette rereleased several times, the latest being September 24, 2013, on the Mushroom Records label. In addition to Jerry Doucette on guitars and vocals, he is joined by Duris Maxwell on drums, Don Cummings on bass, Robbie King on keyboards, Brent Shindel on guitars and Dale Jacobs on string synthesizer. This eleven-track album is slightly reminiscent of the sound of Steve Miller and the Doobie Brothers with such tracks as Down The Road, Back Off, the title track Mama Let Him Play, Cat Walk (which is a bonus track) and much more. I enjoyed this album from start to finish with excellent guitar work and amazing vocals and harmonies plus I was quite impressed with the writing and recording of this album. This released is still available on Vinyl, CD, Cassette and digital download from Amazon, Discogs, and other outlets. Their sixth album overall, and was issued in North America as a double LP released November 29, 1980, on the Epic Records label. Randy Bachman had a great career as a member of The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive as a guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist. With this album Any Road, Randy Bachman showcases his work as a solo artist and only putting his last name Bachman on the label. On this twelve track album originally released in 1993, Randy Bachman is playing guitar and vocals, joined by Billy Rea “Crash” Chapman on drums and Richard Cochrane on bass. He is also joined by guest artists Neil Young providing guitar and vocals and Margo Timmons providing vocals on the track Prairie Town, Callianne Bachman providing vocals on Overworked and Underpaid and several other guest artists. Other notable tracks on this album are the title track Any Road, Vanishing Heroes, Why Am I Lonely and much more. I enjoyed this album, but not as much as some of his other work. This album was still well written, performed and recorded and is available on CD and digital download from any music outlets.

Family Joules is the fourteenth studio album by the English rock band Foghat, released in 2003 on the Varese Vintage Records label and rereleased February 10, 2017, on the Linus Entertainment Records label. It is the first album by the band without founding member, guitarist and singer Dave Peverett and consists of Charlie Huhn taking over the lead vocals and guitar duties along with Bryan Bassett on guitar and vocals, Tony Stevens on bass and vocals and Roger Earl on drums. This band still has that great rocking sound that they had back in 1975 when they had their big hit of Slow Ride. This thirteen track album features such tracks as Mumbo Jumbo, I Feel Fine, Looking For You, Sex With The Ex, Mean Voodoo Woman and so much more. I was quite impressed with their songwriting abilities, as well as how well this album was performed and recorded with it still available on CD and digital download from Amazon, Discogs, CD Baby, and many other music outlets.
