Demoed In Detroit 1997-98 is the January 29, 2019 album by Sponge, an American alternative rock band from Detroit, Michigan and released on the Cleopatra Records label. This band formed in 1991 went through several changes throughout the years. The lineup on this album consists of Vinnie Dombroski on vocals, Joey Mazzola and Mike Cross on guitars, Tim Cross on bass and Charlie Glover on drums. This collection is a never-before-released set of studio recordings taped in Detroit following the band’s blockbuster sophomore album Wax Ecstatic! For reasons known only to the band, these recordings were shelved and a new set of recordings were produced for Sponge’s 1999 album New Pop Sunday. But now those incredibly inspired studio sessions from 1997-1998 are available for the first time anywhere. This eighteen track album feature thirteen original songs and three blistering cover tunes as well as 2 exclusive acoustic versions of their hits Plowed and Molly (16 Candles Down The Drain). Among the other tracks on this album are original tracks How Much Do You Think Of Love, Great Big Flop, Get Down And Assumed The Position, Someone To Talk To and many others, as well as three covers, Break On Through ( a Doors classic), My Generation (a hit by The Who), and Born To Be Wild (a Steppenwolf gem). This great album was well written, recorded, produced and performed and is an essential album for fans of Sponge and classic ’90s alternative rock! This classic album is available from Amazon, Itunes, Cleopatra Records and other outlets where CD’s and digital downloads are sold.
