Flying in a Blue Dream is the third studio album by guitarist Joe Satriani, released on October 30, 1989 through Relativity Records. It is one of Satriani’s most popular albums and his second highest-charting release to date. I have been a fan of Joe Satriani’s music for a long time and impressed with his guitar riffs. This eighteen track album spawned the singles I Believe, Bad Moon/Day At The Beach, and the title track Flying In The Blue Dream/The Phone Call. Among the other tracks on this album that are notable are Strange, The Feeling (which has a bluegrass sound), Road To The Shalla-Bal, Ride and so much more. This release was well written, performed, recorded and produced. I highly recommend this album to anyone’s rock library.
Here We Are is the 2015 album by country duo John and Judy Rodman released on the Rivermoon Records label. This album is a mixture of classical and contemporary country. I had not heard of this artist till some turned me onto a video by Judy. After over thirty years of work as solo artists, this is their first album as a duo. I was impressed by Judy’s voice and how well these two work together. This seven track album has such great tracks as Somethin’ Like That, Something Bad, There You Are, and You Want It Back. This album was well written, performed, recorded and produced. I recommend this album to any country music fan. You can purchase this album at Amazon, CD Baby, Itunes and everywhere where CD’s and Digital Downloads are sold.
Seether: 2002-2013 is a two-disc compilation album by the South African rock band Seether, which was released on October 29, 2013 through Wind-up Records. The first disc comprises the band’s well-known songs and singles such as Driven Under, Tonight and much more while the second disc comprises of a new single, a cover of Veruca Salt’s song Seether, the song after which the band is named, plus unreleased demos, B-sides, and soundtrack songs from great films as Freddy Vs Jason, Daredevil and others. The hit Rise Above This was written after lead singer Shaun Morgan’s brother Eugene’s first suicide attempt and sadly, just before his second attempt, which was fatal, and his brother never got to hear it. He poured his soul into this hit song, which has been an anthem for suicide awareness. This album also includes the great cover of the George Michael song Careless Whisper and a new single Weak. This is one of the bands I was turned on to by my wife since normally I am a classic rock lover of 60’s and 70’s but I have learned to get into music by later artists. I was very impressed on how well this collection was written, performed, recorded and produced. I recommend this album to anyone’s music collection.
Pierced Arrow is a May 6. 2016 Savoy Records release by The Rides consisting of rock and blues legends Stephen Stills, Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Barry Goldberg. To complete this great band they recruited former Stevie Ray Vaughn’s Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton. Together this album spawned such great tracks as Kick Out Of It, Virtual Tour, Be My Side, I Got To Use My Imagination, There Was A Place and much more. After listening to this album which I discovered by accident while looking for something else at a local record store, I knew I have to find a copy of their August 2013 album Can’t Get Enough. I was very impressed on how well this album was written, performed, recorded and produced. I highly recommend this album to anyone’s rock and blues library. This album is available on CD and Vinyl.
