For my 480th review I am proud to review Brave, an 2015 album by pop artist Karoline. Karoline is Karoline Rhett and she has such a sweet and powerful voice. This five track EP has the songs Color Outside The Lines, Ordinary, the title track Brave, I’m The Melody and Tiny Heartbreaks. I was impressed on how well this album was performed, recorded and produced. This album is available for purchase at http://www.karolinemusic.com/#shop and itunes.
For my 479th review, I am proud to present Midnight Snack by Funky AF recorded in Venice Beach, California. This album has great vocals and is versatile in styles. For example if you took Jethro Tull and Santana and put them together you would come up with the song Crystal Ball. Danny Weed has a great reggae sound. The rest of the songs on this EP have a great funky sound along with the sound that made Curtis Mayfield famous. I am looking forward to hearing more from this great artist. You can find this album at CD Baby and https:/funkyaf.bandcamp.com
My 479th review is a great acoustic album called Unplugged by Hank and Eddie. This album is quite good. This 2017 release starts off the some great Spanish flamingo guitar playing on the song Vertigo and goes into some great songs such as Falling Into Pieces, In Your Garden, Say Goodbye, We Are Tommorrow (which also had the Spanish feel) and much more. I am very impressed on how well this album was written, performed and recorded. This definitely an album you need to check out. You can find this album on CD Baby and Iheart.
I never heard of Empty Pockets before until my wife saw a posting on facebook that they were giving away this album for the cost of postage, so I said to myself “what is there to lose other than the cost of postage”. So I ordered a copy of the album Ten Cent Tour and I was surprised with the sound of this album. It had a great mixture of blues, Americana, and country. The tracks that impressed me was You Know I Do, Tractor Song, I Hear Your Voice, Travelin’ Song and much more. I was impressed with the harmonies and the instrumentation of this album. This album was well written, performed, recorded and produced. This great piece of work was released in June 2015 on the MT Pockets Inc. label and I looking forward to hearing more from this band. You can get this album on Amazon, Itunes, CD Baby and on their website http://www.theemptypockets.com.
For my 477th review I am proud to announce the album Right Is Right by rock/blues band 53 Across from New Mexico consisting of Garrett Hobson and Eduardo Barraza. I was told the band’s name came about with the original band members were born in 1953. This album caught my attention on the very first track Right Is Right. Other tracks that I felt good about are Cookie Blues, His Amp, When The Night Falls and much more. The track 69 Chevy has a bluegrass sound that really surprised me for a band from New Mexico. This album has everything, great vocals, fantastic guitar riffs, great performance, recording and much more and it was also well produced. I recommend this album to your music library. You can purchase this album at CD Baby and Itunes.
Chance Encounters In The Garden Of Lights is the remastered reissue of the 1987 ambient double album by Bill Nelson, re-released on July 29. 2017. This collection also includes twenty one additional tracks. From the first track West Keep, it grabbed my attention. It was hard to pick certain tracks as favorites since I liked the whole album. There are great tracks such as Seventh Seal, Body Of Light, The Piano Room, My Dark Demon, Staircase To No Place and so much more. This album was well written, recorded, performed and produced. I believe you will want to add this release to your library.
Village Of Dreams is my 475th music review and the debut album by rock artist Bryan Stephens and was released July 21, 2017, on the Blue Elan Records label. This album features great vocals and strong guitar riffs as seen in such great tracks as In June, Revolution, Deprivation, Attrition and much more. This album also includes a great cover of the Guess Who song No Time. I was very impressed with how well this album was written, performed, recorded and produced. This is an album I would highly recommend to anyone’s music library.
Rio is the second studio album by English new wave/synthpop band Duran Duran released in November 1982 on Capitol Records. I first spun this album while playing in a nightclub in Okinawa, Japan. This great album spawned four singles My Own Way, Rio, Save A Prayer and my favorite track Hungry Like A Wolf which had a great video to promote the song. Other notable tracks included New Religion, My Chauffeur and much more. This album was well recorded, written and produced. I highly recommend this album to anyone’s record library.
Steppenwolf is the first album by Canadian rock band Steppenwolf, released in January 1968 on ABC Dunhill Records. The album was a successful debut for the band, featuring the songs Born to Be Wild, as well as The Pusher, both of which were used in the 1969 motion picture Easy Rider. Who can’t listen to Born To Be Wild and not picture Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper riding their motorcycles down the highway? This album features the powerful vocals by John Kay and great keyboard playing by the late Goldy McJohn with such great tracks as Sookie Sookie, the blues classic Hoochie Coochie Man, Berry Rides Again a tribute to guitarist Chuck Berry and many others. This album was well written, recorded and produced. This is an album that made me a big fan of Steppenwolf for decades.
Award winning Malaysian singer-songwriter Vanessa Moses presents Danish Cookies is My Name, her highly anticipated debut on the independent label Senate Records and is produced label owner and veteran blues/rocker Joey Stuckey. This EP contains such tracks as Hey U, Under One Sky, Bad Dreams and much more. She has a great voice and sounds like a lot of female artists you hear on the radio. This album was well written, performed and recorded. If you get a chance, check it out.
